I was inspired by another photographer
who did a series of photos showing his
autistic son and the things he did.
I believe it was called 'What Autsism Looks Like'.
So, I did my own series of lifestyle type photos
showing my little boy (who has autism)
just being himself.
This sweet little guy has taught me so many lessons
about life! I've learned things that had never even crossed
my mind before as something to be learned.
It has been an amazing, difficult, wonderful,
challenging journey! And while it's tough to
be positive about everything,
it's a journey I'll always treasure.
"Sometimes the things we can't change end up changing us."
Occasionally I get lucky and am able
to get some 'in studio' shots of him!
So I'll leave you with those.
For the month of April, a portion of
the fees I get from each session held this month
will be donated to Autsim research.

My son is going to preschool-yikes! I can't believe it.
I decided to do a mini going to school session with him.
Since he has autism, taking photos in a studio setting is tough.
Fortunately, he likes to look at books and that's how I got him to
sit there for a couple minutes.
I also bribed him with some chips, that sort of worked.
And I couldn't leave my little girly girl out,
so I did a mini cupcake session with her!
He has to inspect his chips very closely before eating them!

My son has Autism.
But that is not what defines him!
He is a sweet, smart, happy boy who loves
the outdoors, chocolate, snuggles, dinosaurs, and tickles!
He fights a hard battle each and every day.
He tries his hardest to do the things he's supposed to do.
And you can't help but smile when he smiles.
He truly is Super.
My daughter does not have Autism.
But she is an amazing little sister!
She has loved her brother from the time she was born.
And despite being screamed at, hit,
and even kicked in the head a few times,
she still persists in playing with her brother,
helping him, and loving him.
She has seen and dealt with many difficult things
in the short 2.5 years she's been around.
She truly is Super.
My son is different.
He does things differently, he thinks differently,
he talks differently, he acts differently.
But being different does not make him any less of a person.
For this photoshoot I decided not to try and get my kids
to sit nicely and smile for the camera
(which would have been disastrous anyhow).
I decided to just let them do what they do best-be themselves!
Dad blew bubbles and I passed out some tickles
and here is what I got!
P.S. Emree had to wear her cape backwards...what can I say, she's a trend setter!
This is the 'my crazy insane sister is jumping around

I got to be a second shooter for a session that is part of a project
that Lizzy from Miss Elizabeth's Photography is doing!
It's called "I Am Beautiful Just The Way I Am".
She is taking photos of people with special needs for this project
and since I've got my own little
special needs kidlet, I was excited to help out!!
Megan loves to read so we went to the library.

My little guy turned 4 the other day! I can't believe how fast kids grow up!
These pics are from a few different photo sessions I did with him.
If you didn't know, my son has autism which makes getting pictures of him rather difficult most of the time! But all that effort is totally worth it, even if I just get one good picture of a smile on his face!
